What is the Ghanaian dream? Hamid spells it out on Ghana Connect

Information Minister Mustapha Hamid has described as an anomaly the poverty situation of people who are so rich in talent.

He said it cannot be the case that sculptors, artists, poets, musicians and many others with talents should wallow in poverty.

“About 90% of these people endowed with talents are poor,” he lamented while discussing the new Ghanaian dream on Joy FM’s Ghana Connect program, Friday.

As part of building that Ghanaian dream, Mustapha Hamid said the Nana Akufo-Addo government  is committed to creating an “equal opportunity for all to engage their talents and get the benefits from those talents.”

He was reiterating the call by the president for Ghanaians to start dreaming again and work towards making their dreams a reality.

In his inaugural speech, as well as his first state of the Nation address, the president Nana Akufo-Addo pledged to work towards moving Ghana beyond aid and establish a more buoyant economy.

That is a Ghanaian dream he pledges to fulfill and leave behind as a legacy when he is out of office.

But that dream has been subject of a debate. Not too many Ghanaians associate with the dream as they are with the American dream.

On Ghana Connect, Friday, the panel made up of poets, artists were each divided on what the Ghanaian dream is. In fact one did not even believe in that dream at all.

But the poet, Chief Moomen is incurably convinced in a Ghanaian dream, and believes that with time Ghana will soon take its pride of place in the global arena.

Speaking on the matter, Mustapha Hamid said it is time for the citizens to be engaged to deliver on the Ghanaian dream.
