featuring 54 Kingdoms and Friends
The concept first introduced at the famous Shrine Harlem in New York City on December 22, 2012, created a buzz that generated instant interest from many Diasporian, making it a must-attend event in the city during the holidays.
“When we developed the concept for Storytellers In FashionTM, the larger vision was to curate a platform for 54 Kingdoms and other emerging / seasoned Pan-African artists to share our stories through our creative own outlets such as music, visual art, poetry, film, comedy, etc. as a celebration of the arts on one main stage. Hence, the audience gets to experience and create their favorite moments through the different artistic genres displayed during the night.” ~ Kwaku Awuah, President of 54 Kingdoms.
Joining the Storytellers In FashionTM stage for the first time is the Haitian born writer and internationally respected poet, D-Colin. Since age 11, Danielle Colin has been writing poetry and has performed professionally in poetry venues such as the Nuyorican Poet’s Café in New York City.
This year, 54 Kingdoms will share stories behind their stories, as the company reflects on its five-year journey under the theme: Pieces of Narratives.
