7th Ghana CEO Summit: Brent Nartey wins Young CEO of the Year 2022

It is truly incredible to see a youthful leader creating waves and to be recognized in the fast-paced oil and gas sector, where seasoned professionals frequently dominate the scene.

Meet Brent Nartey, a visionary and accomplished young leader, who was recently recognized as the “Young CEO of the Year 2022” at the 7th Ghana CEO Summit, held at the plush Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel on 22nd May 2023.

Having a penchant for excellence from his childhood, Brent’s journey to becoming a Managing Director at Engen Ghana Ltd comes as no surprise for those that have been under his tutelage and guidance in the last eighteen years.

His passion for the oil and gas sector began shortly after his first degree. He began his career at Engen Ghana (2005-2012), where he held various management positions including Supply & Distribution Manager, Acting Retail Manager, and Finance Manager.

Brent’s attention to detail and thirst for finding more efficient ways to work led to his secondment to the International Business Division of Engen Petroleum Ltd, South Africa as a Business Process Improvement Manager overseeing BPI projects in Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Ghana.

Brent subsequently joined Tel Energy (2012-2021) as a Business and Finance Manager, where he successfully launched and implemented several strategic initiatives before taking on the role of Acting Managing Director. In June 2021, Brent returned to where it all began, with his appointment as Managing Director of Engen Ghana Limited.

At Engen Ghana Ltd (EGL), Brent set out to transform the company by reengineering key business processes and strengthening the capacity of the team.

His vision is to build a company that is not only focused on maximizing profit but is environmentally responsible and engaged with the communities in which it operates. By paying careful attention to the needs of all stakeholders, he aims to make EGL the desired petroleum marketing company in Ghana.

Brent’s commitment to corporate social responsibility has also led to strategic partnerships with the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF), Operation Smile Ghana, Coliba Ghana, and PASH Global, just to mention a few.

Brent’s forward-thinking approach has not only yielded impressive financial results but has also contributed to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious business at EGL.

He serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that profit and progress can coexist harmoniously with responsible business practices.

As he continues to steer Engen Ghana Ltd. towards greater heights, there is no doubt that Brent will leave an indelible mark on the oil and gas sector in Ghana, leaving an enduring legacy for future generations to build upon.
