Exhibitions of Most Promising Hyper-Realistic Artist in Ghana – Richmond Ametefe

Titled RICHMOND’S PARADIGM: The Book of Eden and Other Conceptions, the exhibition sought to celebrate a collection of hyper-realistic charcoal drawings produced by Richmond Ametefe to create awareness and promote the conservation of some of Africa’s most endangered wildlife species.

The exhibition was held on the 7th of January 2022, at FWC Sakumono in a 40x40meter auditorium and featured 24x30inch art pieces matted in a 30x40inch glass and wooden frame and mounted on wooden easels.

A total of 14 drawings, produced in the span of 14 months, formed the centre piece of the exhibition.
The works are described by Ametefe as “the specific purpose of my calling and general expression of ideas that started forming in my mind since I began my drawing career in 2019”.

Ametefe joins a long and illustrious history of artists who have explored various techniques in hyper-realistic drawing.
However, he is widely recognized as the most significant artist championing nature and wildlife art in Ghana as underpinned in the whole of his output.

His background in Geography & Environmental Research, more so, having once won the prestigious UNESCO (MAB) Young Scientist Award has led to his successive intriguing nature-related conceptions; radically stretching the limits of what charcoal art can do and express.

Below are pictures of some of the featured pieces:
