Black Sheriff, the voice behind “Kwaku the traveller,” has secured his first global nomination in the 2022 edition of the BET Hip Hop Awards.
He was nominated in the coveted Best International Flow category with stiff competition from UK’s Knucks, South Africa’s Blxckie, and France’s Benjamin Epps.
Others in the competition include Le Juice from France, Central Cee from the UK, Nadia Nakai from Zimbabwe, Tasha and Tracie from Brazil, and Haviah Mighty from Canada.
Mohammed Ismail Sheriff Kwaku Frimpong with the stage name Black Sheriff is a 20year old musician from Konongo-Zongo, in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
He lived most of his life there before moving to Tema (after senior high school) where he started his music.
The young Ghanaian rapper music has been a great hit since the beginning of last year, 2021 when he released his series on “Sermon.”
The artist said the lyrics for the series came from his life hustles and experiences as well as stories he’s heard from people.
His song “Second Sermon,” made waves in the music industry bringing the likes of Burna Boy to collaborate with him.
When interviewed on the Delay show, he explained to his fans that his whole life is music.
His artistry as a musician is to be iconic and to sing about life through music and it’s of no surprise he’s been nominated for BET making him the youngest Ghanaian artist to be nominated for this award.
