“What Mummy Doesn’t Know” a play to be staged by Evelyn Asare

University of Ghana 2020 Best graduating student in Theatre Arts, Evelyn Nana Ama Asare is set to stage a play “What Mummy Doesn’t Know” at the National Theatre on 26th October 2022.

Evelyn is a young Writer, Communications Specialist and an Actress who seeks to develop society through her writing. She has a strong interest in family affairs and her passion for this is reflected in all her literary works. She hopes to use her writing to make an impact across the globe.

“I write based on experiences and things I’ve observed as well as my imagination.” She revealed.

Evelyn has authored four books: The Sex Trial, Pulse, Drops – Tale of a broken Family, and What Mummy Doesn’t Know.

About the Play “What Mummy Doesn’t Know”

The play, which will be performed at the National Theatre Folks Place in Accra on October 26, 2022, tells the story of Kwame and Mildred who find themselves in dangerous and horrific situations as a result of the decisions they make.

The entire narrative emphasizes the importance of decision-making that benefits both parents and children.

The show is open to all teenagers, teachers, parents, guidance, and the general public who are responsible for children’s welfare. The play is sponsored by Spargbags, Bolingo Communications, and Media Consult Ltd.

The young writer’s passion and resilience landed her major acting roles in several plays including Still A Rose, The Choice, Marching For Fausa, Shaka The Zulu, The Animal Kingdom, In The Chest of A Woman, and Others.

Evelyn also had the opportunity to feature in TV series such as Accra Medic and Inspector Bediako all on Akwaaba Magic, Stryke TV Series by Farmhouse productions, and short films such as Yes or No, Niggas with Attitude, Carcinoma, and A Glimpse, all on YouTube.

The Sex Trial author holds a Masters of Arts in communication from Trinity College and University, Spain, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana. She is a member of the Ghana Association of Writers and the International Women’s Writing Guild.

She has studied widely and has diplomas and certificates in diverse fields. She also speaks French, Fante, and Twi.

Evelyn is currently studying for a Masters in Public Administration at the University of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
