Nigerian veteran actress and evangelist, Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G on Saturday bagged the Industry Merit Award category of the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The 9th edition of the AMVCA which was held in Lagos, Nigeria celebrated outstanding talents in the film and television industry across Africa.
The AMVCA on its Twitter handle says Ozokwor’s exceptional talent and contributions to the entertainment industry have shaped the landscape of African cinema.
The 64-year-old from Enugu State started her career as an announcer and broadcaster on Radio Nigeria before switching to acting.
She became famous due to her great performance in the 1999 film “Authority” and has appeared in hundreds of movies since then.
Mama G as she is fondly called, has portrayed a wide range of characters in various movies, Mostly known for playing the role of a “wicked woman” in most of her films.
Ozokwor has won other awards like ‘the Best Supporting Actress 2012 and 2013 awards at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
She was also among the top 100 Nigerians Honored by the government to celebrate the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates in 2014.
