Luis Rubiales: Ex-Spanish football federation chief given three-year ban by Fifa

Former Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has been banned from all football activities for 3 years by FIFA.
This stems from Rubiales kissing forward Jenni Hermoso without consent after Spain’s Women’s World Cup final win over England in August 2023.
Hermoso later filed a legal complaint against Rubiales over the non-consensual kiss.
FIFA’s ban is for breaching disciplinary code Article 13 on offensive behavior and fair play principles.
Rubiales claims the kiss was mutual but Hermoso maintains it was not consensual.
The incident overshadowed Spain’s historic World Cup victory and drew widespread criticism.
Last month, a criminal hearing considered sexual assault charges against Rubiales, who is now banned from going near Hermoso.
Most of Spain’s World Cup squad boycotted the national team over the federation’s handling of the matter.
Former Spain manager Jorge Vilda was fired in September and is being investigated as part of the criminal case.
Hermoso said her image was tarnished but returned to the team in October, scoring a late winner against Italy.
