An earth tremor has been reported in parts of the Greater Accra Region, as confirmed by the Ghana Geological Survey Authority.
The tremor occurred on Sunday morning around 7:23 am, affecting areas including Kasoa, Mallam, Awoshie, Kwabenya, Anyaa Bortianor, and Ablekuma. Some Ghanaians on social media described it as more significant than previous incidents.
This marks the second occurrence of an earth tremor in Accra this year, with the last recorded in March 2023 measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale, according to the Ghana Geological Survey Authority.
The authority is actively collecting data through its team of seismologists to determine the event’s epicenter, magnitude, and other relevant factors.
