Thomas-Greenfield leads US delegation to 2023 UN peacekeeping meeting in Ghana

U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield is leading the US delegation to the 2023 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial beginning in Ghana’s capital, Accra on Tuesday 5 December 2023.

Thomas-Greenfield will be accompanied by the assistant secretary of state for international organisation affairs Michele Sison, national security council senior director for African affairs Judd Devermont, and other U.S. officials.

At the ministerial, ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will deliver opening remarks at the U.S.-hosted side event on Improving Environmental Management in Peacekeeping.

The ambassador will also join a panel on conditions for success in peacekeeping and make new announcements on concrete support that the United States will deliver to strengthen UN peacekeeping operations, including support to African partners.

The 2023 ministerial will focus on the protection of civilians, safety and security, the mental health of peacekeepers, and women in peacekeeping, as well as misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech.
