Ghanaian award-winning impact strategist, international influencer, racial equity, diversity, and inclusion champion Adjoa B. Asamoah has been named the International Citizen of the Year at the 2023 Leadership Conference in the Bahamas, one of OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY’s Highest Honors selected locally by Gamma Chapter and nominated to the International Committee by the First District.
Miss Asamoah was proclaimed the International Citizen of the Year for her impressive record of sparking change as a lifelong public servant and impact strategies.
She is known globally as the CROWN Act champion and an architect of history-making policy outlawing race-based hair discrimination and more than 20 states.
The men of OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC through their local chapters celebrated Achievement Week, the first social action program of opportunity inspired by Carter G Woodson’s stirring speech delivered at the 1920 National Meeting entitled Democracy and the Man Far Down.
Omega immediately answered his challenge by devoting one week annually to motivating others to greater achievement by uplifting the outstanding accomplishments and endeavors of those in our communities.
The Citizen of the Year Award is an essential part of Achievement, week, and honors individuals who have profoundly advanced the African American community.
Reacting to the news on her LinkedIn page, Miss Asamoah wrote: “I’m truly at a loss for words right now. The level of gratitude I feel is quite literally, not figuratively, indescribable.”
More About Miss Adjoa B. Asamoah
Adjoa B. Asamoah holds degrees in African American Studies, Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Applied Behavior Analysis.
She earned licenses as a behavior specialist, pupil personnel worker, and psychometrist. She studied abroad at the University of Ghana and is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at George Washington University, with a dissertation focusing on how race-based hair discrimination impacts school and workplace climate and culture.
