Black Stars held to goalless draw against Sudan in AFCON Qualifier

Ghana’s Black Stars were held to a 0-0 draw by Sudan in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, 10 October.

The home side started strongly, dominating the early stages of the first half. Defender Alexander Djiku came close to breaking the deadlock in the fifth minute, connecting with a corner, only to see his effort rebound off the woodwork.

Sudan gradually grew into the game, but despite some pressure towards the end of the half, they failed to trouble Ghana’s defence.

The Black Stars looked more dangerous in the second half, creating multiple opportunities.

They fired 15 shots in total, five of which were on target. Antoine Semenyo had the best chance, but his header was saved by the Sudanese goalkeeper.

Ghana now shifts their focus to the return leg against Sudan at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Libya on Tuesday (15 October) as they continue their bid for a spot at the 2025 AFCON, set to be hosted by Morocco.
