No drones at Black Star Square on inauguration day – National Security warns

The Ministry of National Security has issued a directive prohibiting the operation of drones during the upcoming presidential inaugural ceremony set for January 7, 2025.

The ban will be strictly enforced at Black Star Square and surrounding areas to ensure the safety and security of dignitaries, guests, and the general public.

In a statement released on Thursday (2 January) the Ministry confirmed that the restriction applies to all types of drones, including recreational and commercial devices.

“This measure is part of heightened security protocols for the high-profile event, which will be attended by national and international figures,” the statement released by the Information Ministry stated.

The Ministry emphasized that the restriction is crucial to maintain a secure environment during the inauguration. It appealed to drone operators to comply with the directive and refrain from flying drones in restricted zones on the day of the event.

“We urge all drone operators to respect the directive and refrain from flying drones in restricted areas on the day of the event,” the statement continued.

The Ministry reassured the public of its commitment to providing a safe and secure atmosphere for the inauguration and called on all citizens to cooperate fully with the measures in place.

“We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of all attendees and the smooth execution of this important national event,” it concluded.
