The Ghana Diaspora Political Action Committee (GHPAC-USA) has announced its official endorsement of Zohran Kwame Mamdani for Mayor of New York City.
In an official statement, the GHPAC says for course of several months, it observed Assemblymember Mamdani’s intentional efforts to build bridges across New York City, championing multiculturalism, advocating for working families, and promoting policies that uplift immigrant communities”
According to the committee, his leadership style reflects a deep commitment to equity, compassion, and inclusion values that resonate strongly within the Ghanaian and broader African diaspora.
“Zohran’s upbringing in Uganda and the profound influence of being named after Ghana’s first president and the architect of Pan-Africanism, the late Honorable Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, have shaped his lifelong affinity for immigrant communities,” said Stephanie A. Arthur of GHPAC.
“This background allows him to empathize with the challenges that make many immigrant families vulnerable and to fight for policies that create pathways to opportunity.”
Mamdani’s forward-thinking policy proposals are designed to create better living conditions for all New Yorkers, and Ghanaians across the city stand to be direct beneficiaries of these progressive ideas.
Specifically, at a time when many Americans are struggling to keep the lights on or find stability in their jobs, his proposals for rent freezes and government-run grocery programs will provide much-needed relief to families battling inflation and housing insecurity.

Zohran Kwame Mamdani plans for a universal free pre-K that will ensure that every child regardless of zip code has access to quality early education, while easing the financial burden on working parents.

The Ghana Diaspora Political Action Committee reaffirmed its stand with Zohran Kwame Mamdani and urges all members of the Ghanaian and African diaspora communities to actively support his campaign for a more equitable and united New York City.
“We encourage everyone to participate in the democratic process and support Zohran Kwame Mamdani’s vision for a fairer, more inclusive New York City” the statement added.
Ghana Diaspora Political Action Committee USA is the political arm of Ghana Diaspora Public Affairs Collective established to increase the number of Ghanaian Americans elected to political office, support candidates that champion issues that positively impact the Ghanaian American community and promote Ghanaian American participation in the political process.
