Ghana set to launch Electro Atom clean-energy project

Ghana is preparing to roll out a new clean-energy initiative aimed at expanding electricity access and creating jobs across the country.

The project, known as Electro Atom, is being introduced by Electro Atom LLC, with technical support from Tribal Technology.

The company says the scheme will deploy a network of autonomous energy stations designed to provide affordable and reliable power.

Announcing the initiative, Prince Adams, the firm’s Country Representative, said the project would help reduce emissions, boost rural electrification and support the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.

He added that the technology’s “round-the-clock reliability” could ease pressure on existing power systems and improve supply to both homes and businesses.

Government representatives have welcomed the move. Haja Mariama Mohammed, a presidential staffer, said the initiative could open up new economic opportunities and generate “thousands of jobs”, particularly for young people. She added that expanded access to power could stimulate local industries and improve security by reducing unemployment.

The project is expected to support national development priorities, with officials expressing hope that it will position Ghana as a regional leader in green technology.

Ghana has stepped up efforts in recent years to diversify its energy mix, widening investment in renewable power and exploring new technologies to strengthen energy security.

The Electro Atom project is seen by its promoters as a significant step in that direction.
