John Dramani Mahama has joined thousands of worshippers in Accra for Eid ul-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The prayers were held at Black Star Square and led by Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, who was accompanied by members of the Muslim community.

In an address after the prayers, President Mahama said Eid was not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity to reflect on the values of discipline, sacrifice and compassion observed during Ramadan. He urged Ghanaians to maintain these principles in their daily lives and to promote unity, tolerance and mutual respect.

Mr Mahama also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to inclusive national development, saying efforts were being made to ensure that progress benefits all parts of the country. He added that national development required cooperation between the government and citizens.

The president described Ghana as an example of religious harmony and called on citizens to preserve that tradition by rejecting division and strengthening national unity.

The National Chief Imam praised the president’s leadership and prayed for strength and wisdom in his administration. He also encouraged government appointees to support the president’s policies aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians.

President Mahama extended Eid ul-Fitr greetings to Muslims across the country and prayed for continued peace, stability and prosperity for the nation.
