Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has met Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, Denys Bashlyk, to discuss strengthening cooperation in agriculture and food security.

The meeting, held on Friday, 10 April 2026, reviewed progress on existing understandings between the two countries aimed at expanding collaboration in the agricultural sector.
Mr Ablakwa reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to creating a favourable business environment for investment, adding that the country is keen to develop its agricultural sector to become a regional agrarian hub.
He also expressed gratitude for an audience granted to him by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a recent visit linked to negotiations on the release of two Ghanaian prisoners of war.
On his part, Mr Bashlyk said Ukraine is interested in investing across Ghana’s agricultural value chain.
He also proposed cooperation in establishing joint research centres and promoting technology transfer through partnerships between universities in both countries.
Both sides highlighted the importance of closer private sector engagement to strengthen bilateral relations.
