Bénédicte Simon has brought valuable European experience to the Black Queens as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Born in Mantes-la-Jolie, France, Simon represents Ghana through her family heritage and earned the opportunity to wear the national team jersey after receiving her first call-up to the Black Queens.
The versatile full-back began her senior career at FC Aurillac Arpajon before establishing herself with Stade de Reims, where she gained recognition in French football. She has since played for several European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid, Juventus, Levante Las Planas, Sassuolo, Racing Power FC and Valencia, featuring across some of Europe’s competitive leagues.
Simon currently plays for Servette FC Chênois Féminin in Switzerland’s Women’s Super League, adding experience from different football environments across Europe.
Her arrival in the Black Queens setup represents a new chapter in her international career. With her ability to operate as a full-back and her experience from clubs in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland, Simon is expected to strengthen Ghana’s defensive options as the team prepares for upcoming continental challenges.
