KNUST Unveils New Statue of Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has unveiled a giant statue of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The gold-plated statue features the Asantehene, who serves as the school’s Chancellor, dressed in a traditional Kente cloth and wearing what appears to be royal ornaments on his arms and wrists.

It could be said that the statue is an identical replica of Otumfuo due to how well it captures his facial features.

The Asante Nation shared the images on their Twitter page, showing the Asante King in a pose with some other school officials around the sculpture.

The statue was mounted in recognition of the Chancellor’s enormous efforts to the growth of KNUST.

Under his leadership, the University certainly has grown into one of the best universities in Africa in terms of academics, infrastructure, and human resources.

Monuments such as statues play an important symbolic role in people’s lives, with each monument being built for specific reasons and intended to serve particular purposes or interests.

The statue of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is thus erected as part of the University’s visual culture that continually reminds us of something or someone important in the community.

Additionally, it aims to motivate people to leave a lasting impression on the world by helping their community expand and develop.
