Abena Yeboah is Founder of Education Hub Ghana & WhatsApp Market

Theodora Abena Yeboah is the founder of Education Hub Ghana and CEO of WhatsApp Market.

Abena Yeboah founded Education Hub Ghana out of her passion to be a humanitarian and to assist children in poor communities in receiving the support they require in the area of education.

The “Education Hub Ghana” was formerly known as “The Pathfinder’s”.
The name was changed to align her vision with President Akufo Addo’s call for a deliberate effort to make Ghana an education hub.

“Growing up, I experienced firsthand how it felt not to have the basic stationeries for school. I used to walk on my feet for miles before getting to school and I mostly had to pair with a friend to use her textbooks and borrow stationeries. I believe no child deserves to go through this.”

“The next reason is my desire to be a humanitarian, someone who wants to get things done either than sitting around whiles things crumble around her. I started Education Hub Ghana to help children in underprivileged communities get the recognition they need”.

In 2021, Abena Yeboah in partnership with Ramaplast and others donated 250 customized school bags with the Education Hub Ghana logo to share with children in underprivileged communities in Ashaiman.

“I partnered with Ramaplast because she makes the school bags with pure water sachets as waterproof for when it rains. It’s sustainable and a great way to help the planet rid itself of plastic waste”.

“This project was the most challenging one because the budget for this was over 10,000 Ghana cedis. I asked the public for assistance and I got 3,000 Ghana cedis from the public and funded the rest of the money by myself with the help of my relatives” She elaborated.

Her first summit in 2019 with the theme of “Finding your purpose” was held to engage with students from Victory Presby School and other young people.

“The world had to deal with Covid-19 so I started an online youth empowerment group to hold weekly lessons on how startups and entrepreneurs can make use of any opportunity thrown their way.
I invited friends and colleagues in the field of mentoring and coaching to teach these people every week including myself.”

Abena grew up with a fascination for computers. After receiving her High School Certificate, She engaged in a six-month professional training in Database Technology at IPMC in Ghana.

This training helped her become familiar with and even more aware of the powers that computers had in the successful running of a business.

She also holds a diploma in French from Alliance Francais D’Accra.

In 2020, Abena Yeboah enrolled in Curtin University Malaysia to study for a Bachelor of Communication. She is currently in her final year, double majoring in Journalism and Public Relations.

Abena Yeboah became a Curtin student ambassador at Curtin University Malaysia to assist students on the university’s website.

From January 2022 to October 2022, she was nominated to join the student council of Curtin Malaysia as the International Subdivision Representative to assist International Students who have traveled far to get acquainted with the university and the city in which they lived.

She later became the first African Female International Student to be President of the School’s Student Council from October 2022 to May 2023.

Abena also had the opportunity to be a part of an Asian Youth camp in Singapore called The Asian Youth Leaders Travel and Learning Camp 2023 making her the second African being selected for this program among over 200 Asian youths.

At the end of the program, Abena won the most creative and outstanding youth leader awards all in the form of medals and certificates.

In July 2023, Abena Yeboah received a fully funded trip to Nepal, to participate in the Young Professionals Fellowship by the Global Peace Chain on discussions on peace and leadership.

Entrepreneurship – 2017 – WhatsApp Market

To address the issues most youths face during the active years of formal education, like balancing their education with trade as a means of putting themselves through school, Abena birthed the idea for WhatsApp Market and Courier Services, which she based its foundation on digital marketing In June 2017.

This was to meet the needs of students and help them reach their objectives without interfering with their academic work.

She began selling products from some students to their peers, utilizing WhatsApp and social media to reach her targeted customers.

Years later, she was able to run an active platform of buyers and sellers that include students, small business owners, and some known brands trading on her market.

For Abena Yeboah, being an entrepreneur is way beyond calling the shots in a company but extends to providing solutions to problems present in one’s immediate society, coupled with the passion for creating opportunities for others through problem-solving.

In just one year of delving into the world of Entrepreneurship, Abena Yeboah was nominated for four different awards in 2018, some of which was a nomination for the Overall Entrepreneur of the Year & Female Entrepreneur of the Year at the Young Achievers Summit Awards and Outstanding Young Woman Entrepreneur at the Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA)

She was also nominated and awarded as one of the top four students in a three-month incubator program by the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), organized by her mentor Dr. Tina Alton.

Abena Yeboah shares in the United Nations vision to ensure an inclusive equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Hence, the founding of the Education Hub Ghana to bridge infrastructure and quality education for children in underprivileged communities.

Abena Yeboah believes that to achieve this goal, she needs to start in the slum so as not to leave any child behind.

One thing that pushed her through despite all these impressive accomplishments is her passion and commitment to bringing about change everywhere she finds herself.
