Global Mercy Ship to dock in Ghana for ten-months

The Global Mercy Ship is set to dock in Ghana for an extended period of about 8-10 months.

A delegation from the Global Mercy Ship, led by its Vice President of International Programs, Michelle Bullington, visited Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in Accra to prepare for the ship’s arrival.

During its stay, the Global Mercy Ship will provide free medical and surgical services, including general surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, ophthalmic surgery, women’s health surgery, maxillofacial & ENT surgery, and paediatric orthopaedic surgery, among others.

This initiative aims to reduce the surgical backlog, offer essential surgical services to vulnerable populations in remote areas, and support the country’s patient care efforts.

The program will also contribute to educational training in medical and surgical specialties and create local employment opportunities.

Additionally, a 250-bed rehabilitative center will be established to accommodate patients who receive surgical and medical services, and it will be donated to Ghana at the end of the program.
