GWR: Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak begins longest cooking marathon attempt in Tamale

A Ghanaian chef, Failatu Abdul-Razak has officially began a journey to break the longest solo cooking record in the Guinness World Records.

Failatu is set to cook from 1 January to 5 January 2024 for 120 hours or more.

The current record of 119 hours and 57 minutes, was achieved by Alan Fisher from Ireland, who set the record in 2023.

The marathon is taking place at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, where spectators and supporters have gathered to witness this remarkable feat.

About Failatu Abdul-Razak

Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak attended the Tamale Business School, the first business school in the northern region of Ghana.

She is an alumna of the University of Development Studies (Wa), where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Community Studies.

Chef Failatu has a diverse professional background, having previously worked with Mafara Hotel and Relax Lodge in Tamale.

In 2017, she founded Mickey’s INN restaurant, located in Lamashegu, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region.

Her dedication to the culinary craft is exemplified by her current Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.
