Tyla wins first Best African Music Performance award for Water at 2024 Grammys

Tyla emerged victorious at the 2024 Grammy Awards, securing the inaugural Best African Music Performance award for her hit song ‘Water.’

The 22-year-old South African singer surpassed prominent Nigerian contenders, including Davido, Asake, and Burna Boy, with her chart-topping track.

‘Water’ not only achieved global success, reaching the top 10 in 16 countries, including the UK and the US but also earned Tyla the prestigious accolade during the 66th Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

In her enthusiastic acceptance speech, Tyla expressed gratitude to God for transforming her life and extended thanks to her team, family, and the Recording Academy for introducing the significant Best African Music Performance category.
