Ghana has won the Junior Division title at the 2026 Robofest World Championships in Michigan, marking the country’s first victory in that category at the global robotics competition.
The winning team, Team Apex from Mikrobot Academy, competed against 26 teams from 19 countries, including China, Canada, South Korea and the United States.
Robofest, founded in 1999 and hosted by Lawrence Technological University, challenges students to design and programme fully autonomous robots capable of completing tasks without remote control.
Ghana also recorded success in the Senior Division, where a team from Right to Dream Academy finished second.
The achievement adds to Ghana’s growing record in international robotics competitions.
Teams from Prempeh College and Methodist Girls’ Senior High School previously won Robofest world titles in senior categories in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
