Actor Idris Elba has been knighted by King Charles III at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.
Sir Idris received the honour for services to young people and charitable work, including his efforts to tackle knife crime and support youth opportunities through the Elba Hope Foundation.
Olympic ice dancing legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were also honoured during the ceremony.
Torvill was made a Dame, while Dean received a knighthood, recognising their services to ice skating and voluntary work. The pair became household names after winning gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics with their celebrated “Boléro” routine.
The honours were presented by King Charles III at Windsor Castle as part of the UK’s honours system, which recognises outstanding achievements and contributions to society.
Other recipients included Meera Syal, who received a damehood for services to literature, drama and charity.
