Amaarae Makes History as First Ghanaian Artist to Perform a Solo Set at Coachella 2025

Amaarae, the US-based Ghanaian music sensation, proudly represented Ghana at the prestigious 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Performing on April 13, 2025, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The singer captivated audiences with her unique blend of Afrobeat and contemporary sound, marking a historic moment as the first Ghanaian artist to headline a solo set at the renowned festival.

Beyond her own tracks, Amaarae also showcased Ghanaian talent by performing hits from notable artists like Eazzy, Joey B, La Même Gang, and the Asakaa Boys, amplifying Ghanaian music on the international stage.

Her set was a powerful declaration of pride as she encouraged the crowd to wave their Ghanaian flags, proudly declaring, “A lot of the music you just heard is from my home country, Ghana. I love my country so much.”

In a bold move, Amaarae also made headlines by cutting her long hair during the performance, adding a personal touch to the moment. She took the opportunity to announce the upcoming release of her highly anticipated album, Black Star, set to drop this summer.

Amaarae, born Ama Serwah Genfi, has built a global following since her rise to fame in 2017 with Passionfruit Summers. Her previous works, including The Angel You Don’t Know and Fountain Baby, have earned her critical acclaim.

In 2023, she took home the Record of the Year award at the Ghana Music Awards for her hit “Sad Girls Luv Money.” Her success continues to grow as she makes a significant mark in both the Ghanaian and international music scenes.
