Sadio Mané has announced his retirement from international football, ending a distinguished career with Senegal spanning more than a decade.
The 34-year-old forward confirmed his decision following Senegal’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing the curtain down on one of the most successful international careers in the nation’s history.
Mané leaves as Senegal’s all-time leading goalscorer and among its most-capped players. He played a pivotal role in the country’s greatest footballing achievement, helping Senegal win its first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2022.
In a farewell message, Mané thanked his teammates, coaches and supporters, saying it had been “an honour” to represent his country and wear the national team’s colours.
Widely regarded as one of Africa’s finest players of his generation, Mané represented Senegal at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and FIFA World Cups, earning widespread acclaim for his performances and leadership.
Although his international career has come to an end, Mané is expected to continue his club career.
