President Akufo Addo removes list of ministers from their roles, including Finance Minister

The presidency has released the list of ministers relieved of their positions in government in a reshuffle announced on Wednesday morning.

In a statement dated February 14, 2024, signed and issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, it was announced that the changes were with immediate effect.

“The President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realization of Government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven (7) years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavours,” the statement added.

Following the re-shuffle, President Akufo-Addo has submitted to Parliament, for prior approval, the names of the new persons for appointment as Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State, in accordance with articles 78, 79 and 256, respectively, of the Constitution.

On the list of those relieved of their positions or sacked as ministers are:

  • Ken Ofori-Atta – Finance
  • Kwaku Agyeman Manu – Health
  • Dr. Kwaku Afriyie – Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
  • Kwasi Amoako-Atta – Roads and Highways
  • Lariba Abudu – Gender, Children and Social Protection
  • Dan Botwe – Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development
  • Freda Prempeh – Sanitation and Water Resources
  • Ibrahim Mohammed Awal – Tourism, Arts and Culture
  • Joseph Makubu – Oti Region

Deputy Ministers sacked

  • Collins Ntim Aboagye – Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development
  • Ama Pomaa Boateng – Communications and Digitilisation
  • Tina Mensah – Health
  • Mohammed Asei Seini – Health
  • Benito Owusu Bio – Lands and Natural Resources
  • Moses Anim – Fisheries and Aquaculture Development
  • William Owuraku Aidoo – Energy
  • Gifty Twum Ampofo – Education
  • Bright Wireko-Brobbey – Employment and Labour Relations
