AU–EU Summit: Ghana positions itself as top investment destination

At the 7th African Union–European Union Summit in Luanda, Angola, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Vice-President of Ghana, declared that Ghana is the “best destination for investment,” inviting European and global investors to tap into the country’s improving economic climate.

She pointed to the government’s recent strides in stabilising the economy, noting that Ghana’s 2026 budget signals renewed commitment to national renewal, infrastructure, jobs, and continental cooperation.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed that reforms in fiscal governance, public financial management, and revenue mobilisation have strengthened Ghana’s economic foundations. Inflation, she said, has dropped to its lowest in four years and the currency has stabilised setting a foundation for investor confidence.

Beyond economics, she called for deeper collaboration between Africa and Europe against violent extremism, urging a regional, community-based approach to tackle root causes such as poverty and exclusion and proposed a dedicated meeting on the issue.

As the AU–EU partnership celebrates 25 years, Ghana’s pitch at the summit positions the country as a gateway for European investment in Africa and a key player in efforts to promote peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
