Ghana is Paradise

Paradise

A few years ago, I joined the bandwagon in search of greener pastures and a good life.

In the process, I am no longer Ghanaian. I say this with a grieving heart. In the process I have learnt so much and come to appreciate life and all. Still, I have come to appreciate myself and my environment.

Home is where the heart is they say and when you have enjoyed boiled cassava and dzomi, the taste of macaroni and cheese will always be foreign.

The craving of Waakye and talia and its attendant “equipment” makes me to question myself as to my current location.

I take solace in my beautiful wife and lovely kids and wonderful friends. Home is where my birth placenta is buried. Home is still Ghana.

My parents are buried there.

Ghana is paradise. Ghana is heaven on earth yet a few greedy souls who don’t believe in death have turned it into Hell on earth. Why?

Ghana is blessed beyond understanding? Is it God”s own footstool that HE hath blessed a country so? Gold, Diamond, Manganese, Bauxite, Oil, Rosewood, Mahogany, Cocoa, Coffee, etc etc and Human capacity are abundant in this nation. Why then do we lack the comfort as we know a paradise to be?

In paradise there is freedom. In paradise there is respect. In paradise there is love. In paradise there is responsibility. At least that is what I read about paradise from books.

I would do anything to constantly enjoy an asanka dish of authentic kontomire abom against some nice pona boxed with kobi (not that Osofo).

If you read this article and you are touched, please rewire your attitudinal thinking. Let us construct this paradise if not for ourselves, at least for our grandchildren.

Ghana is paradise. You and I will make it happen.
