Spotlight : Hon. Henry Quartey – Minister for Greater Accra Region

Hon. Henry Quartey is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party. He is currently the Minister for Greater Accra Region

Quartey was born on 12 March 1971. He hails from Otublohum, a town in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

He had his secondary education at the Hams Secondary School in Dansoman and Zams Secondary/Technical School in Bolgatanga. He had his G.C.E. Olevel at Osu Presbyterian Senior High School.

He entered the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and obtained his postgraduate certificate in Public Administration.

In 2012, he contested for the Ayawaso Central seat on the ticket of the NPP sixth parliament of the fourth republic and won.

He was a member of the Roads and Transport Committee as well as Gender
and Children Committee.

He was a Deputy Minister for National Security, and also served as the Deputy Minister for Interior.

He established the Ocean Marine Dolphins and he is the Director and CEO.

Hon. Henry Quartey launched the ‘Let’s Make Accra Work’ campaign in April, 2021 to clean-up Accra. He has admitted that the fight to make the national capital clean is a herculean task, adding that he’ll work with “iron fist to make sure it works.

Hon. Quartey disclosed that over 850 personnel have been assigned to clean the city daily.
