Ghana’s Evelyn Badu wins double at the 2022 CAF Awards

Evelyn Badu, former striker of Ghanaian women’s football club, Hasaacas Ladies FC was named the Women’s Interclub Player of the Year and Women’s Young Player of the Year at this year’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards held on Thursday night in Rabat, Morocco.

Badu, after her impressive performance for the club and the Black Princesses of Ghana last season, beat the likes of former teammate Doris Boaduwaa, Yasmine Zouhir of Morocco, Andile Dlamini, and Bambanani Mbanie to grab all two awards.

The 19-year-old helped her former club side to win the Women’s Premier League (WPL), WAFU Zone B Championship, Women’s MTN FA Cup, Women’s Super Cup, First Lady’s Cup, and also emerged as runner-ups in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The prolific striker won the golden boot and player of the tournament at the 2021 CAF Championships League, netting five goals for her side, Hasaacas Ladies.

Badu would now have her name in the books of CAF as the first female winner of the maiden Interclub player of the year award.

The young skillful player has signed a two and a half year deal with Norwegian Side Avaldsnes IL and has so far been awesome for the team.

Evelyn Badu is currently at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence at Prampram for Black Princesses training towards the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
