Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has unveiled a 25-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
The Black Stars will see the return of key defenders Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah, both of whom missed last month’s matches against Angola and Niger.
Djiku, of Fenerbahçe SK, and Mensah, who plays for Auxerre, bolster the squad’s defensive options ahead of the crucial doubleheader.
One of the standout selections is FC Samartex left-back Isaac Afful, who has earned his debut call-up after impressive performances in both the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah and Atalanta midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana have also been recalled after recovering from injuries that sidelined them for the last round of qualifying.
Ghana will host Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday (10 October) before heading to Libya for the reverse fixture at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina on Tuesday (15 October).
Both matches are crucial as the Black Stars seek to secure their place in the upcoming AFCON tournament.
