Uganda’s renowned dance troupe, the Ghetto Kids, have been selected to perform alongside Colombian pop star Shakira during the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The group, which rose to international fame through viral dance videos and appearances on global talent competitions, is expected to join Shakira on stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States, on 19 July 2026.
Shakira is set to headline what organisers describe as the first-ever halftime entertainment show for a FIFA World Cup final. The inclusion of the Ghetto Kids has been widely welcomed in Uganda, with many viewing it as recognition of the country’s growing influence in the global entertainment industry.
Founded in Kampala by Dauda Kavuma, the Ghetto Kids use dance and performance to provide opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Their energetic routines have earned them millions of followers worldwide and collaborations with several international artists.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted jointly by United States, Canada and Mexico, with the final scheduled to take place in New Jersey.
The performance is expected to give the Ghetto Kids one of the biggest international platforms of their career, bringing Ugandan talent to millions of football fans around the world.
