Ghanaian man holds Guinness World Record for the most trees hugged in an hour

A Ghanaian forestry student named Abubakar Tahiru has made history by being the first person to hold the Guinness World Record for the most trees hugged in one hour.

The record-breaking effort was made at Auburn, Alabama, USA, on 25 March 2024, when he accomplished the amazing accomplishment of hugging 1,123 trees in one hour.

Tahiru wanted to make history by embracing every tree, but he also wanted to draw attention to how important it is to continue global sustainability initiatives.

A publication by Guinness World Records stated that “The most trees hugged in one hour (individual) is 1,123, and was achieved by Abubakar Tahiru (Ghana), in Auburn, Alabama, USA, on 25 March 2024.”

“Abubakar is an Auburn University forestry student who is deeply passionate about the environment and sustainable forestry. He hopes his attempt will spotlight the need for sustainability and inspire a call to global community action.”
