The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed the receipt of an additional GH¢35 million from the Ministry of Education.
This funding, released by the government through the Ministry of Education, will support WAEC’s operations and facilitate the continuation of the 2024 WASSCE marking.
Earlier, the government had released GH¢25 million to settle part of the GH¢118 million debt owed to WAEC.
According to a statement from WAEC, the funds will help WAEC expedite the process of releasing the results by the end of December.
“The West African Examination Council wishes to inform its stakeholders that on December 25, 2024, it received a cheque for an additional amount of GHC 35, 000, 000. 00 from the Ministry of Education to enable it to complete the scanning of the objective answer cards and conclude processing of results for the WASSCE for school candidates, 2024.”
